Learn CCNA collects as little as it can. You can read the whole guide and use the free tools without an account, and then nothing about you leaves your browser except what any website sees (below). There is no advertising and no tracking across other sites, and nothing is sold.
Without an account
- Your progress (quiz answers, flashcards, subnetting scores, how far you got in each lab) and the networks you build in the labs are saved in your browser's own storage, on your device. They are not sent anywhere (except the unknown commands below, if you agree). Clearing the site's data in your browser removes them.
- Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify you: it records pages viewed, the referring site, and the browser and country, in aggregate.
- Errors the site hits in your browser are reported so they can be fixed: the error message, the script and line, and the page's address without any query. Nothing about you is included. Cloudflare keeps these reports for a few days.
- Your theme choice (light or dark) is saved in your browser.
Commands the labs don't know
When a lab's emulator does not run a command you type, the site asks once whether it may send such commands, so the missing ones can be added. If you say yes, each is sent with the lab and the device mode it was typed in, with everything after a password, secret or key word removed. Nothing about you is sent with it, and it is not linked to an account. It is kept in Supabase.
With an account
- Your email address, to sign you in (by emailing you a link) and to connect a purchase to you. Accounts are kept by Supabase, and sign-in emails are sent through Resend. Your email is not used for anything else, and is never shared for marketing.
- Your progress, with full access: the same progress your browser keeps is also kept in your account, so it follows you to every device you sign in from.
- Your purchase: that you bought full access, the amount, the currency and Stripe's order number. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe and Link, its seller of record;Learn CCNA never sees your card details. Stripe's own privacy policy covers what it collects for the payment.
Cookies
The site sets cookies only to keep you signed in, and one short-lived cookie (an hour) that remembers which page to return you to after you follow a sign-in link. Both are needed for signing in to work; there are no advertising or analytics cookies, so there is no cookie banner.
Updates by email
If you sign up for occasional updates, your email address is kept by Buttondown for that list only, and every email has a link to unsubscribe.
Our videos on YouTube and Instagram
Learn CCNA publishes short videos on its own YouTube channel and Instagram account. They are uploaded with the YouTube API Services and Instagram's API, by a tool that only the site's owner uses and that reaches only those two accounts, to post videos and manage their titles, descriptions and schedules. It never accesses your YouTube or Instagram account or any information about you. When you watch the videos on YouTube, YouTube's Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy apply.
Who handles your data
Cloudflare (hosting, analytics and error logs), Supabase (accounts, progress and the unknown commands above), Stripe and Link (payments), Resend (sign-in emails) and Buttondown (the update list). Each processes data only to provide its service to the site. Some of them are in the United States, so your data may be processed there.
Keeping and removing your data
Your account and progress are kept while you have an account. The progress page's reset button erases your progress, in your browser and, if you have full access, in your account. To have your account deleted, to get a copy of what is stored about you, or to correct it, write to support@learnccna.org from the address you signed in with. Records of purchases are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, and you will not be treated differently for asking. California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act; Learn CCNA does not sell or share personal information as that law defines it. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can also object to processing and complain to your data protection authority. The legal basis for processing is providing the service you asked for (your account and purchase) and the site's legitimate interest in counting visits and fixing errors.
Children
Learn CCNA is not meant for children under 13, and does not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date at the top.
